Human Resource and Industrial Relations Professional
Mr. Learie Hinds is a Human Resource professional with forty six (46) years’ experience in all areas of Human Resource Management having held executive and senior management positions in medium and large organizations in the manufacturing, heavy industrial, health care, financial, hospitality, security and service industries, both in public and private enterprise.
Mr. Hinds now serves in an advisory / consultancy role at Amalgamated Security Services Limited, prior to which he held the Leadership position of the company’s Human Resource Department as Chief Human Resource Officer, from 2015 to 2022.
He holds an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University, and have completed the Diploma, in Industrial Relations, Cipriani Labour College Valsayn, Trinidad (Two (2) Year Diploma Programme), and Advance Labour laws at The Employer’s Solutions Centre. He is also a trained ISO Internal Auditor (ISO 9001:2000 Internal Quality Auditing and ISO 9001:2000 Documentation & Implementation) and is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP, ASIS International). Mr. Hinds also attended numerous seminars, conferences and workshops in Management, Leadership and Negotiations from The University of the West Indies, Covey Leadership Centre (West Indies) and The Dispute Resolution Centre, Trinidad and Tobago, among others.
Mr. Hinds is very experienced in conciliation and negotiations having completed negotiations without third party intervention, with leading trade unions in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and St. Maarten and represented organizations at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Court and The Registration, Recognition and Certification Board, Trinidad and Tobago.
He has developed and conducted training programmes in Supervision and Industrial Relations for Managers, Supervisors and Trade Union officers that led to a clearer understanding of their roles and responsibilities and engendered better management union relationships.
During his forty six (46) year career Mr. Hinds would have held leadership positions of management teams appointed to review organizational structures of company’s within the health, financial, manufacturing and services sector and to make recommendations for improvements, which resulted in all recommendations being accepted and successfully implemented. He developed and implemented five year rolling strategic plans and budgets
headed human resource departments and was responsible for Human Resource Planning Manpower Audits, Skills Inventory, and developed Job descriptions, among other areas, and guided management in all aspects of Human Resource Management and Industrial / Employee Relations.
Mr. Hinds has held the office of Vice Chairman of The Employment and Labour Relations Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce and is currently a committee member, representing Amalgamated Security Services Limited, the premier provider of security services in Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Hinds also served as Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Western United Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited (WESCU) for two consecutive terms.
